Sports Academies

Our Sports Academies give you the chance to pursue your sporting ambition while completing a full-time qualification.

Being part of one of our sports academies gives you a minimum of 10 hours of training per week from experienced coaches, as if you are part of a semi-professional club. With our affiliations with local and national clubs, you will have exposure to physios, coaches and other industry professionals, as well as exclusive access to our private strengthening and conditioning gym.

To be eligible to be part of a Sports Academy, you must:

Be aged 16, 17 or 18 when your course starts
Be enrolled on a full-time course
Attend and pass trials

Our Sports Academies

Basketball Academy

Our Basketball Academy Programme aims to nurture and develop the sporting talents of aspiring athletes. Our aim is to develop well-rounded athletes in terms of skills, fitness, experience, knowledge and understanding. We will provide you with the tools to progress your career in basketball in the UK and overseas and will help you obtain a recognised qualification to facilitate your progression.

As a student-athlete on our Basketball Academy programme you will have access to the following:

Professional coaching by qualified and experienced coaches
10 hours of coaching and matches per week
Team and individual positional training sessions
Basketball-specific fitness sessions
High-level league and cup competitions
Participation in UK and International tournaments
Strength and conditioning gym programme developed for each individual player
Nutrition plan and guidance
Access to fully qualified physiotherapists and sports masseuses
Training and match kit

In addition, there will be other opportunities available to players on this programme, such as:

End-of-season international tour
Team & Individual photos
Individual player game stats
USA & UK Scholarships opportunities
Trips to BBL league games and finals
Opportunities to gain additional qualifications i.e. table officiating
Support with highlight reels
Assistance with SAT preparation
Partnership with men鈥檚 teams with progression opportunities
One-to-one mentoring drop-in sessions

Boxing Academy

Our Boxing Academy is a unique programme, designed to develop your skills in a range of boxing-related areas. Whether your goal is to compete, coach, or run your own boxing club, our programme will provide you with endless opportunities in the world of boxing.

As a student-athlete in our Boxing Academy programme, you will have access to the following:

Professional coaching by experienced and qualified national coaches
2 hour training sessions x 4 a week
Boxing medical assessment and license
Strength and conditioning gym programme developed for each individual
Nutrition plan and guidance
Accesses to fully qualified physiotherapist and sports masseuse
Training and competition kit

In addition, there will be other opportunities available to individuals on this programme, such as:

A wealth of additional qualifications including Level 1 & Level 2 Coaching Certificates, Sports Leaders UK Award, England Boxing Judges Award
Opportunities to spar against other clubs across London
Opportunities to compete against other colleges in BOX cups
Participation in World Series Boxing events across the capital with boxers from Team GB including Commonwealth Gold Medal winner and Rio 2016 hopeful Joe Joyce
Tickets to World Series Boxing fights
Trips including visits to Sheffield鈥檚 Institute of Sport, the home of England Boxing
Work experience coaching boxing in the community and in local schools

Futsal Academy

Our Futsal Academy is a comprehensive development programme designed to enhance your abilities on and off the court. Partnering with Hammersmith Athletic, the academy provides a pathway for talented players to progress to higher levels of futsal, while equipping you with the knowledge and skills for a successful future.

As a student-athlete in our Hammersmith Athletic Futsal Academy programme, you will have access to the following:

Expert Coaching
Receive top-tier instruction from FA-qualified, nationally recognised futsal coaches dedicated to your development
Intense Training
Participate in three training sessions per week, plus competitive matches
Personalised Strength & Conditioning
