Creative Media Students Shine at West London Film Competition 2025

Students from Creative Media Production – Level 3 showcased their talent at the highly anticipated West London Film Competition 2025 on Monday. This exciting event provided them with a unique opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals, gaining hands-on experience while creating a short film under the theme ‘Behind the Scenes.’

West London Film Competition

Guided by a professional filmmaker, students honed their skills and embraced the challenge of producing a film within a set timeframe. The films were judged on factors including story, character development, cinematography, sound design, and overall impact. The event was sponsored and supported by 11:11 Management, RD Content, West London鈥檚 Creative Enterprise Zones, The Mayor鈥檚 West London Film & TV Skills Academy Hub, Mayor of London alongside the JGA Group, who organised the event.

Their lecturer, Donald Polson, expressed immense pride in their accomplishments, saying: “We are incredibly proud of what our students achieved using the skills they have developed over the past year. The competition provided invaluable professional experience, allowing them to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.”

Students also shared their enthusiasm for the event. Taylor Markey, who participated for the second time, highlighted the collaborative spirit and industry insights gained, saying: “Having taken part again, it was incredible to see all the creatives come together in such a lively atmosphere. I really appreciated the involvement of industry professionals, and as a group, we learnt so much from our mentor.”

Paula Lorenci echoed these sentiments, emphasising the inspiration drawn from the competition: “The film competition was an absolute blast! It was so inspiring to see all the creative work on display, and the atmosphere was amazing. Watching everyone鈥檚 films and witnessing their unique styles was a truly enriching experience.”

With the success of this year鈥檚 participation, both students and the media team are eagerly looking forward to next year鈥檚 event. The West London Film Competition continues to be an invaluable platform for emerging filmmakers, and we cannot wait to see what our talented students create next.
