Students from 91桃色’s Uniformed Public Services courses visited Number 10 Downing Street on Monday, where they had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The visit was organised by Deidre Costigan, MP for Ealing Southall.
Students were invited to hear about the government鈥檚 increased defence spending plans and how this investment will impact British businesses and young people. They participated in networking sessions with representatives from many small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) that offer career opportunities in the defence sector and who will benefit from the increased spend.
Luigi, who is in the second year of the Uniformed Public Services – Level 3 Extended Diploma, said: “It opens more doors for us, because putting money into all the small to medium businesses offers opportunities for the younger generation to grab a hold, expand their skills, and find a career.”
Fellow student Melody added: “It will open more doorways for me and people like me. It means many more job opportunities. It’s made me feel more secure about the future.”
Adding to the excitement of the day, students also met Deborah Meaden from聽BBC’s “Dragons’ Den,” who took time to speak with students about their career plans.
The visit left the students feeling “empowered and inspired,” reinforcing their ambitions to pursue careers in public service and defence-related industries.
CEO and Principal, Karen Redhead OBE, said: “It was fantastic to be invited to Number 10 Downing Street to hear Sir Keir Starmer’s plans for the defence industry. Thank you so much to Deidre Costigan MP for organising and inviting us.”
